The Customer Lanes table’s auto-generate feature leverages data from previously created tables—such as Sites, Customers, Modes, Products, and Periods—to automatically populate key columns like Site, Customer, Mode, Product, and Period. This reuse of existing structured data streamlines the definition of valid customer-lane combinations, significantly reducing manual input, minimizing errors, and ensuring consistency across the model. By drawing on these pre-defined inputs, the system accelerates setup and maintains alignment across related tables, making it easier to scale and maintain accuracy in complex planning scenarios.
The Modes auto-generate feature displays the names of modes that have already been created. Once a mode is selected, users can enter a cost per unit, which can be defined in two ways: shipment-based (applied per shipment) or distance-based (applied per unit of distance traveled). This flexibility allows for more precise modeling of transportation costs based on how charges are structured in real-world logistics.
